The paediatric anaesthesia section (Kindersectie) of the Dutch association of anaesthetists (NVA) organises one two-day scientific meeting per year. There is also a yearly session at the annual scientific meeting of the NVA. Apart from these two events, the section meets every two-months. These regular meetings are partly scientific and partly organisational.
Regional scientific meeting of interest to the paediatric and general
anaesthetists at the two Dutch children's hospitals and at other teaching hospitals
in the country are advertised through the paediatric section of the NVA, and
attended by many of its members.
The kindersectie takes an active interest in training of paediatric
anaesthetists and of general anaesthetists in paediatric anaesthesia. The
kindersectie is also involved in incidental projects for which modest funding
exists – for instance in 2002 the partial sponsoring of an APLS-course in
Suriname.
There is active co-operation
between the section and related organisations in the Netherlands, for example:
the Paediatric Pain Group, the Society for the Advancement of Dental Care of
the Mentally Handicapped and the Dutch Foundation for the Emergency Medical
Care of Children (SHK).
